## Written processing offer questions

Verify the scope of a zero eligible credit-card rate without expanding it into a zero-total-cost claim.

A 0% eligible merchant credit-card rate is just one part of the deal. The owner still needs to know which charges remain, how customers see prices, and what setup is included. Read the full written offer before assuming that headline is the total cost of getting paid. A clear comparison protects the business from surprise and gives staff a consistent answer when customers ask about payment choices.

Compare zero-fee processing offers with remaining monthly, annual and payment-method charges. Use the account cost planner before choosing a provider.

## Define what the zero applies to

Ask what eligible transactions and account conditions that rate covers. Keep credit-card fees separate from debit, gateway, monthly, dispute and other account-specific costs. A marketing page leaving out a charge doesn’t mean it can’t exist. The actual agreement and approved setup set the terms, so the owner should receive a full explanation before activation.

The [BlueFinch advisor service](<https://bluefinchadvisors.com/toolbox/dedicated-advisor>) gives you a human review of the proposed processing setup and account questions. Ask the representative to explain how the headline matches the written schedule, in plain language. “Everything is free” isn’t a substitute for identifying the applicable terms. And confirm the scope and limits of any included software access.

## Compare with the current bill on the same basis

Start with the [merchant statement analyzer](<https://bluefinchadvisors.com/toolbox/merchant-statement-analyzer>) to confirm current fees and settled card volume. Include separate related costs in a clearly labeled broader comparison when appropriate. Then apply the proposed terms to the same volume, counts, and payment mix. Comparing an old all-in rate with a new percentage alone understates the new side and exaggerates the difference.

Start with the real math. Say the current cost is $1,500, while the proposed scenario keeps $120 in existing costs and adds $80 in new relevant charges. That means the modeled reduction is $1,300, not $1,500. This is just an example, not an offer. Keep remaining costs in the calculation when looking at eligible zero-rate treatment.

## Ask about the operating arrangement

Check customer prices, supported methods, receipts, and the timing of disclosure under the actual approved program. Ask how the shop’s estimates, counter process and online payment page will stay consistent. The provider should explain the applicable setup and requirements for your location and methods before staff repeat a simplified description. Don’t casually mix program labels.

Confirm the equipment, activation steps, integration scope, and any conditions that affect access. A saved payment-page design or public demo doesn’t prove the business is ready to collect live payments. Keep the approval state and setup state separate. If the owner requires a particular shop-management connection, make it a written decision condition, not an informal hope.

## Retain the agreement for the first-statement review

Keep the written terms and open questions together. Once activated, check actual charges and operating behavior against the agreement. The SBA’s cost-benefit guidance supports evaluating costs and benefits over a defined period. A forecast isn’t a verified saving until the relevant records support it. Investigate differences instead of hiding them behind the original headline.

Ask who handles account questions and how to escalate a mismatch. Record the contact route and any agreed support scope. The owner should leave the offer review knowing the actual decision, cost assumptions, and setup responsibilities. That clarity supports a credible customer explanation because the staff are not trying to interpret a promise the business itself has never fully understood.

Check whether the written document covers the same merchant entity and location discussed on the call. A correct fee schedule for a different account scope doesn’t resolve your business’s actual pricing and activation questions.
