Before estimating growth, connect one channel to completed inquiries: evidence record
Resolve scanner measurement unknowns by establishing a bounded channel-outcome baseline rather than traffic-based revenue projections.
No signup. Enter reference codes, add records and download a CSV. Entries stay in the browser tab. Filled fields do not establish completion, approval or compliance.
| Channel and period | Traffic metric definition | Completed action definition | Qualified inquiry evidence | Accepted outcome evidence | Unknown attribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Illustrative: one referral source; one month | 100 visits, invented example | Completed form, not button click | 6 qualified inquiries, invented example | 3 accepted jobs, invented example | Some origins unknown |
- The starting row is fictional and is not merchant evidence. Replace it with your verified internal record. Blank fields remain unresolved.
- Keep Yes, No, Not sure and Not applicable distinct. A reported answer is not an independent BlueFinch verification.
- Record one bounded check or decision per row. Add evidence dates and use unknown rather than zero when a value is unavailable.
- Do not enter card data, account credentials, customer information or private financial documents. Use internal reference codes.
- Filled fields do not establish completion, compliance, profitability or a revenue opportunity. Verify the actual acceptance result.
- Export deliberately to approved business storage. Browser edits are cleared on reload.

A traffic chart doesn't tell you which visitors became customers. Start with one channel and one completed action the business can verify. A modest baseline, with clear limits, beats an impressive revenue projection built on pageviews and an assumed average ticket.

Measure which wrap-shop lead sources produce completed installations
Website traffic, an inquiry and a completed installation are different records. Connect the source label to the project before comparing campaigns.
Read the measurement check as a records question
The Profit Leak Scanner asks whether the business knows which channels bring real inquiries or sales. It does not connect analytics, inspect CRM records or calculate growth from the answer. A No response creates an action to establish the relationship between activity and outcomes. Not sure means you need to investigate the evidence. Pick a representative period and define the stages before you review totals. A completed form, a call-button click, an answered call, and an accepted job are different events. Make sure staff know which event they’re recording, so comparisons don’t quietly change definitions.

Keep each platform’s meaning intact
Google’s Business Profile performance documentation separates views, searches, and interactions. It also says performance data includes organic and advertising activity. Search Console describes website search appearances and clicks. But neither source automatically gives you a customer count. The business dashboard tool can help organize available connected information, but it can’t fill in missing attribution. Use the exact metric names and periods in your baseline. Mark unavailable data as unknown, not zero. If staff use a customer’s self-reported referral source, label it honestly. That can still be useful, even if it isn’t the same as a fully traced digital path.

Use a modest worked example
Say a fictional shop gets 100 website visits from one observed referral source in a month. Ten completed inquiry forms are recorded. Six fit the shop’s services, and three turn into accepted work. Those numbers track different stages under the chosen method, so don’t mix them up. Multiply 100 by a $2,000 average ticket, and you’ve invented $200,000 in revenue. Even those three accepted jobs need real values and clear attribution limits before you call them channel revenue. Keep inquiries with unknown origins separate. The baseline shows where the process needs work. It isn’t a reason to shove every customer into a neat marketing category.

Choose the next action from the stage that is unclear
You can see visits, but not completed actions? Fix the tracking and test the route. Are inquiries arriving, but staff can’t tell which ones matter? Agree on a simple operational definition. Accepted work is recorded without its source? Decide whether a proportionate source question or an approved integration would help. Use the website audit tool to investigate a broken customer path. A technical repair and an attribution change are different jobs. The SBA recommends using sound financial records and weighing costs and benefits over a defined period. Do that before buying another reporting subscription or predicting a return.

Use the channel-baseline worksheet
Record the channel, period and actual metric definitions. Then add completed actions, qualified inquiries and accepted outcomes, but only when supported records back them up. Use the final field for unknown attribution, mixed channels or changed definitions. Keep customer identities and private transactions in approved systems. A useful first record can cover one channel, not every source the business uses. The scanner’s result is a self-assessment, not an independent check of marketing performance. The cost comparison uses entered expenses. Keep growth hypotheses out of the dollar total until you have a defensible method and evidence.
Keep the period attached to every count when you export. Ten inquiries in a week divided by a month of visits? That’s not a comparable conversion rate. If the periods don’t match, mark the calculation unavailable until the evidence lines up. A plain count with an honest limitation beats a percentage that looks exact but mixes incompatible records.
