A fixed card charge takes a larger share of a small collection than a large one. Compare tint-shop payment costs using the actual collected amount, percentage rate and fixed charge. Keep account fees and channel differences visible. A lower advertised percentage does not automatically mean a cheaper small-job transaction, and one example does not establish the best provider for the entire shop.

Choose the collections you are comparing
Identify the accepted small-job category and completed payment amount. Use actual collection evidence rather than the full price of a larger package containing the item. Separate a stand-alone accessory payment from an accessory added to an existing final balance. Those arrangements might create different transaction counts. Do not count a sent payment link as a completed collection or ignore an approved refund in the reviewed method.
Retrieve the current percentage and fixed charges for the actual payment method and channel. An online payment and counter payment might have different pricing. A wallet logo does not establish whether the underlying method is credit, debit or another category. Use the merchant’s actual terms rather than a generic promise all debit or alternative payments cost only a few cents. The tint statement effective-rate audit checks the wider account beyond one small transaction.
Calculate the included transaction cost
For the simplified comparison, multiply the gross collected amount by the entered percentage rate and add the applicable fixed transaction charge. Divide that included cost by the same gross amount to calculate its share. A zero gross amount has no meaningful percentage result. Monthly account charges, failed attempts, refunds and other fees need separate review when the simplified method does not include them.
The small-job cost sheet records the job category, gross completed collection, payment channel, verified percentage rate, verified fixed charge, other included cost reference and reviewer. Use aggregate figures and codes only. No customer or card details belong in this public worksheet. The tool records the comparison inputs and does not provide a processor quote or certify the accuracy of an unverified price schedule.
Compare two fictional payment amounts
At an illustrative 2.8% plus $0.20, a $25 collection has $0.70 percentage cost plus $0.20 fixed cost, totaling $0.90. That equals 3.60% of the entered $25. A $250 collection at the same pricing has $7.00 plus $0.20, totaling $7.20 or 2.88%. The fixed charge is unchanged, but its share is larger on the small amount.
These prices are fictional and exclude account fees and other charges. They are not BlueFinch terms or a national tint-shop rate. If a quote instead has a different percentage, fixed charge or payment mix, compare the actual included amounts. Do not apply the example’s 3.60% to every merchant statement or confuse transaction cost share with the shop’s net profit margin.
Review the whole account before changing providers
Add the small-job observations to the broader statement review. Check how often those collections occur and whether proposed pricing changes affect larger jobs, deposits and final balances. A 0% merchant credit-card program still needs review of remaining debit, monthly and other costs. The shop should compare the same expected collection mix on both sides rather than selecting the one transaction favoring a preferred offer.
Preserve the period, pricing references and actual transaction counts behind the decision. If another schedule combines a small item with an existing balance, confirm the accepted invoice and supported payment procedure before changing the customer request. Fee arithmetic alone does not determine the right commercial schedule. The owner needs a transparent cost comparison connected to how the shop actually collects for its work. Use the tint payment-channel map to keep counter and online collections distinct.
