The short version

  • Approve the program, tenders, mobile use, and remote channels in writing.
  • Update booking, work-order, invoice, receipt, refund, and warranty handoffs.
  • Test deposits, debit, wallets, mobile connectivity, bundles, and partial credits.
  • Audit early customer questions and complete statements after launch.

A tint-shop launch can look fine at the front counter and fail online or in the field. The complete test covers booking, deposit, check-in, product and vehicle record, added work, final payment, receipt, care, warranty, refund, and a mobile appointment if the shop offers one.

Use this operating checklist with the processor or acquirer and the shop's professional advisors. It does not replace state-specific review of payment rules or vehicle tint law.

Review the written payment offer

  1. Calculate the current effective rate from complete statements and settled card volume.
  2. Separate credit, debit, cash, checks, ACH, financing, refunds, and unpaid bookings.
  3. Obtain every remaining fee, equipment term, contract term, cancellation term, and remote-payment cost.
  4. Confirm credit, debit, prepaid, wallets, keyed cards, booking links, mobile terminals, voids, and refunds.
  5. Review the exact price display and language for every approved channel.

Update the complete customer path

Use one current source of truth for the amount due. Booking software, work order, terminal, and final invoice should not calculate competing totals.

  • Website, booking page, deposit terms, and confirmation.
  • Work order with vehicle, glass, film, shade, service, and applicable acknowledgment.
  • Change order for removal, PPF, coating, or other added work.
  • Mobile work order and payment request where applicable.
  • Final invoice, receipt, care instructions, product record, and warranty paperwork.
  • Cancellation, no-show, refund, and warranty-remedy records.

Run a tint-shop transaction matrix

Test an online deposit, in-person credit card, debit card, prepaid card, digital wallet, mobile terminal, remote payment link, split tender, added package, void, full refund, partial refund, transferred deposit, and warranty visit with no retail charge.

Confirm that the customer sees the prices before payment, the terminal identifies tenders correctly, deposits apply once, receipts match the invoice, and credits return the expected amount.

Train booking, installers, and front counter together

Practice a no-show question, service upgrade, debit card, mobile connectivity problem, split payment, cancellation refund, and warranty concern. Staff should know where the current price lives and when to pause for an answer.

Assign responsibility for booking copy, signage, terminal settlement, refunds, chargeback notices, warranty records, and statement review. Write the escalation contacts down.

Audit the first week and first three statements

  • Compare booking, work order, terminal, receipt, and settlement amounts.
  • Review debit, prepaid, wallets, mobile, and remote treatment.
  • Check deposits, reschedules, bundles, voids, and refunds.
  • Listen for staff wording that differs from the approved documents.
  • Calculate the complete new effective cost with remaining fees.
  • Log questions and correct the document, system, or training that caused them.

Questions business owners ask

Can the shop launch before the booking page is updated?

If the booking page collects payment, it is part of the launch. Update and test it before accepting live deposits under the new program.

What if a wallet test produces the wrong amount?

Stop and have the provider correct or explain the configuration in writing. Do not ask staff to guess the underlying card.

Should warranty work run through the terminal?

Only when a legitimate customer charge is due under the applicable warranty and shop policy. Do not create a retail transaction merely to close a work order.
