The short version
- Use processor-approved links instead of collecting card details in text or email.
- Confirm location, vehicle, service conditions, scope, and prices before travel.
- Record any on-site change before collecting the difference.
- Keep completion, receipt, care, and warranty records attached to the mobile job.
Mobile tint adds convenience and removes many cues from the shop. There may be no counter sign, no fixed bay, and no office computer beside the terminal. The booking confirmation and mobile work order have to carry the job.
Card-not-present deposits also carry different operational and fraud questions than a card tapped in person. Use the provider's approved tools and keep sensitive card details out of ordinary messages and notes.
Confirm the mobile job before travel
If the site cannot support the work, the policy should explain rescheduling or travel charges before the appointment. Do not invent a fee on arrival because the booking process failed to ask a necessary question.
- Customer identity and reliable contact information.
- Exact service location, access, and site contact.
- Vehicle year, make, model, glass, and requested service.
- Weather, shade, power, cleanliness, space, or other service conditions required by the shop.
- Quote, deposit, regular card price, lower cash price, cancellation terms, and remaining balance.
Send a secure, contextual deposit request
The message should identify the appointment or invoice and direct the customer to an approved hosted page. The customer should see what is being paid, the price choice, and the deposit terms before submission.
Do not ask the customer to send a full card number, security code, or card photograph by text or email. Follow the account's PCI obligations and the provider's remote-payment instructions.
Document the vehicle before changing the price
Existing film, damaged defroster lines, unusual glass, contamination, access problems, or a different vehicle can change the plan. Photograph or record the relevant condition, explain the change, and obtain approval of the updated scope and price before work or added payment.
Apply the earlier deposit once. If the customer switches payment methods on site, present the correct current amount before collection and issue a receipt for the actual method.
Test the mobile terminal where it will be used
Confirm connectivity, battery, receipt delivery, credit, debit, wallets, voids, and refunds. Determine what happens when service is weak and whether offline acceptance is permitted under the account. Do not create a manual card-note workaround.
If a remote link is used for the final balance, make sure the approved pricing disclosure appears in that flow. A sign stored back at the shop cannot inform a mobile customer.
Close the mobile job like a shop job
Provide the final invoice, payment receipt, care instructions, product and installation record, and warranty information. Record completion and customer acknowledgment using the shop's normal method.
If a complaint or dispute follows, create a factual timeline from booking, deposit, arrival, condition, approved changes, completion, payment, and communication. Submit only relevant evidence through the processor's required process.
Questions business owners ask
Can a technician key a card into a phone app?
Only use the processor-approved application and account configuration. Confirm cost, security, receipt, and dual-pricing behavior before field use.
What if mobile internet fails?
Follow the provider's approved procedure. Do not write down card details or improvise an unapproved offline transaction.
Does a mobile receipt replace a warranty record?
No. The receipt documents payment. Keep the vehicle, product, installer, date, invoice, and other warranty information required by the manufacturer or shop.
